The above canvas measures 2.71cm x 1.27 cm. I began this over a year ago as I needed something to fill a big space on my lounge wall above my fireplace.
The canvas had to be specially made. Once I came up with a theme of little houses with quotes the rest was easy, just time consuming. Apart from a few of the houses, which either were from Collections range or various little chipboard albums, the rest I cut out of chipboard. I then hunted for suitable quotes that I likes to put on each house. The canvas was primed with gesso, then I adhered layers of cotton gauze with gel medium, layers of paint, spritzed with various sprays. The border chipboard vine and the floral twigs are from Buzz and Bloom, which I painted with golden alumina paste, then painted on copper, gold and silver luminarte pigments. The little trees were from my own stash, but do not remember where they originated. The two very large trees were made by me.
Once it was all completed, I had to think about how to attach all the houses and flora to the canvas and also how to attach it all to the wall. I decided to use clear liquid nails to attach all the houses to the canvas. Then I adhered velcro to the back of the canvas and wall with liquid nails. My trusty creative "soulmate" Debbi Weiss came over to help me hang it. Whilst I loved making this project and seeing it on the wall, a year was too long to wait for "project completion satisfaction".
All the little houses are below.
